Welcome to Mrs. Heather Anderson's Class Blog. I am currently looking for a teaching job in the Dallas, Texas area. I've taught school for 14 years, 12 in Alabama, and two years in New Jersey.

About Me...
I grew up in Cullman, Alabama. Since I was a teenager, my desire has always been to work with children and to influence their lives in a postive manner. After graduating from the University of Montevallo, I began work on my masters at Auburn University. In 1995, I began teaching Kindergarten at Cullman City Primary School. The following year, I moved to first grade where I taught for 11 years. I thouroughly enjoyed my time at Cullman Primary.
In November of 2007, I married Mr. Billy Anderson and moved to the Tinton Falls area in New Jersey. In December, I was blessed with the opportunity to take over as a permenant substitute at Mahala F. Atchison School in Tinton Falls. I taught in New Jersey for 2 years before moving to Texas with my husband's job.
I am currently looking for a job teaching in the Dallas area. While doing the job search "thing", I am working on my masters in Reading and Literacy and hope to be able to put that degree to work this upcoming year as a Reading specialist, or Reading coach for a school system close to our home in Lewisville.

Mission for the Class...
My desire for the class is to achieve success in all realms of life. My ultimate goal is to attain success and growth for the children emotionally, socially, and academically. This is to be accomplished through a postive classroom environment that promotes a "can-do" spirit in order to encourage confidence in both academic and daily life.
I also hope to begin the process of teaching and practicing the art of making choices. I feel that children need to be encouraged to examine their own behavior and learn to "choose their behavior". It is my desire to enable my students to be successful learners in all areas of life. Ultimately, we want to grow together to become life-long learners as well as caring, concerned, and committed members of the community.
